Become part of a community committed to increasing visibility, opportunity, mentorship, and professional support for women and nonbinary people working across horror arts and media. Membership dues help WiHAMA develop and sustain educational programming, mentorship, grants and access support, local chapters, community events, and opportunities connecting creators across writing, film, and other horror disciplines.

WiHAMA centers women, including cis and trans women, and nonbinary people. Supporting allies and mission-aligned organizations are also welcome to join and help advance this work.

All individual memberships include:

A member profile and listing in the WiHAMA member directory, if the member chooses to be listed

Creative & Professional Memberships

For the communities WIHAMA Serves

These membership levels are created for women, including cisgender and transgender women, as well as nonbinary, gender-fluid, agender, and other people of marginalized genders working in or pursuing work across horror arts and media.

WIHAMA recognizes these as distinct identities and communities. Including them within the same membership pathway does not define nonbinary, gender-fluid, agender, or gender-expansive people as women. It reflects our commitment to providing resources for people whose genders have historically been underrepresented across horror literature, film, media, scholarship, and the arts.

Depending on membership level and program availability, Creative and Professional Members may receive:

Access to the member community and directory
Eligibility to participate in mentorship as a mentee
Eligibility to apply for grants, awards, residencies, and other funding
Access to select educational and professional-development programs
Opportunities for advocacy, visibility, and amplification
Member updates and invitations to select events

Membership establishes eligibility, not guaranteed selection. WIHAMA does not guarantee mentorship placement, funding, publication, promotion, employment, professional advancement, or participation in any particular program.

Individual Member

$65 annually or $6 monthly

The standard WiHAMA membership for writers, filmmakers, artists, performers, editors, publishers, educators, industry professionals, and other people working in or supporting horror arts and media.

Patron Member

$250 annually

For members who want to make a significant annual investment in WiHAMA's mission and the future of women and nonbinary people in horror. Patron Members receive the same core individual membership rights and benefits and may be recognized publicly as a Patron Member with their permission.

Community Access Member

$30 annually or $3 monthly

A self-selected reduced-rate membership for students, emerging creators, unemployed or underemployed members, and anyone for whom the standard dues create a financial barrier. No proof of income or hardship is required. Community Access Members receive the same core benefits and individual membership rights as all other individual members.

NOTE: If the Community Access rate still creates a financial barrier, please contact us to ask about a sponsored or waived membership. Financial circumstances should not prevent anyone from participating in the WiHAMA community.

Sustaining Member

$125 annually or $12 monthly

For members who would like to provide additional financial support for WiHAMA's mentorship, education, access, chapter, grant, and community programming. Sustaining Members receive the same core membership rights and benefits as other individual members; the higher dues help make programs more accessible to the wider community.

Organizational Member

$300 annually

For small presses, publishers, production companies, bookstores, libraries, academic programs, arts organizations, film organizations, and other mission-aligned groups. Organizational Membership includes up to three designated representatives and one organization listing in the member directory.

Organizational Membership does not include sponsorship recognition, advertising, vendor space, or guaranteed access to programming. Organizations seeking those benefits should review WiH AMA's sponsorship and partnership opportunities.

Supporting Memberships

Open to Everyone

Supporting Memberships are open to individuals of every gender and to mission-aligned organizations. They are designed for anyone who wants to contribute financially to WIHAMA’s work without enrolling in the Creative and Professional Membership pathway or seeking its mission-specific career benefits.

Anyone may choose a Supporting Membership, including individuals who are eligible for Creative and Professional Membership but prefer to participate as supporters.

Supporting Members receive:

Organizational news and impact updates
Invitations to select WIHAMA events
Recognition opportunities associated with their support level, when offered and with permission
The opportunity to express interest in available volunteer roles
The opportunity to apply to serve as a mentor when they have relevant professional experience

Volunteer and mentorship roles are not guaranteed benefits of Supporting Membership.

Opportunities are offered at WIHAMA’s discretion and depend on organizational needs, qualifications, experience, program requirements, safeguarding policies, conflicts of interest, and participant preferences. Purchasing a Supporting Membership does not guarantee acceptance, placement, access to program participants, or continued service in any volunteer or mentorship role.

Supporting Membership does not include eligibility for grants, mentee placement, funding, promotional opportunities, or other career-building benefits designated for Creative and Professional Members.

Supporting Membership contributions directly help fund WIHAMA’s mentorship, education, accessibility, grant, advocacy, and community programs.

Individual Supporting Member

$65 annually or $6 monthly

Provide foundational support for WIHAMA’s year-round operations and mission-driven programming.

Benefits include:

Representatives are reviewed individually. Organizational Supporting Membership does not guarantee volunteer or mentorship placement, constitute a WIHAMA endorsement, or include sponsorship benefits unless established through a separate agreement.

Founding Member Recognition

Anyone who joins during WiHAMA's founding membership period through 2026 will receive a Founding Member designation at no additional cost. Founding Member is a recognition, not a separate dues level, and does not provide additional voting power or priority for professional opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join WiH AMA? WiH AMA centers women, including cis and trans women, and nonbinary people working across horror arts and media. Supporting allies and mission-aligned organizations are also welcome. Final eligibility and voting rights are governed by WiH AMA's articles, bylaws, and membership policies.

Do all individual membership levels receive the same benefits? Yes. Community Access, Individual, Sustaining, and Patron Members receive the same core benefits and individual membership rights. The higher levels allow members with greater financial capacity to provide additional support for WiH AMA's mission.

Do Sustaining or Patron Members receive priority for mentorships, grants, residencies, panels, or other opportunities? No. A higher dues level does not provide preferential selection, additional voting power, or priority for professional opportunities.

Why does the monthly option cost slightly more? Monthly payment options include additional processing and administrative costs. The complete twelve-month total is displayed before checkout.

Can I change my membership level? Yes. Members may contact socowomeninhorrorfest (at) gmail (dot) com to request a change for their next renewal period.

How long does membership last? Membership lasts for twelve months from the date of purchase. Annual memberships renew each year, and monthly plans renew each month, unless the member cancels future renewal.

Can I cancel automatic renewal? Yes. Members may cancel future renewal at any time. Membership benefits will continue through the end of the period already paid.

Are membership dues tax deductible? WiH AMA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The deductible portion of membership dues may depend on the value of benefits received and each member's circumstances. Members should consult a qualified tax professional. WiH AMA does not provide individual tax advice.

Will my information appear publicly? Only if you choose to be listed. Directory participation and the public display of a name, profile, photograph, identity information, website, or social account must require separate affirmative consent.
